Cozy Winter Coloring Pages

Cozy winter coloring pages for adults and teens: penguins on the ice, polar bears, snow days and warm cabins, all with bold lines and big shapes. Try Penguin Ice Skating, Polar Bear Hugging a Penguin, Fox Skiing Down a Snowy Hill, Snowy Cottage with a Smoking Chimney or Log Cabin in the Snowy Woods. The quick pages take about 20 minutes with markers and the cabin scenes about an hour. Most have nothing Christmas in them, so they carry you from the first snow through January. Every page is a free PDF in US Letter and A4, or color it online.

Tips for winter pages

  • Leave snow as bare paper and shade it with pale blue-gray or lavender under trees, along drifts and on the side away from the light. White only reads as white next to a shadow.
  • Big dark areas such as penguin backs streak easily. Use a brush tip, overlap each stroke while the edge is still wet and turn the page so strokes stay short. A dark gray or navy often looks softer than pure black.
  • Color polar bears cream or ivory with a pale cool gray on the shadow side, and give the snow or ice around them a light blue so the bear stands out.
  • Build a cool palette (navy, pale blue, silvery gray, lavender) and add one warm accent, such as amber in the windows or a red scarf, repeated in 2 or 3 places.
  • Falling snow can go in last: white gel pen dots on dry ink over the sky, or over a darker night sky for more contrast.

Otter Sliding on the Ice and Puppy Playing in the Snow have under 40 spaces and take about 15 minutes. Polar Bear Hugging a Penguin and Snowman Holding Hot Cocoa take about 20.
