Questions and answers

Printing, paper, markers and what you may do with the pages. For more depth, see how to print coloring pages and the best markers for coloring books.

The pages

Are the coloring pages free?
Yes. Every page is a free PDF in US Letter and A4, with no sign-up, no email and no watermark on the art. Coloring online is free too.
Who are they for?
Adults and teens who like cute, calm pages that can be finished in an evening. The bold lines and big spaces also suit kids, seniors and anyone with tremors or arthritis: the Easy pages have the fewest and biggest spaces.
What do Easy and Medium mean?
We count the spaces to color on every page. Easy pages have up to about 95 spaces with the thickest lines (1.7 mm when printed); Medium pages are fuller scenes with up to about 170 spaces and a slightly finer line so small details stay open.
How are the pages made?
Each page starts as a drawing made with an AI image model. We then trace it into clean vector lines at one weight, remove stray marks, measure every space, and check each page by eye; we reject the ones with broken shapes or odd details. The full story is on the about page.
Can I share my finished pages?
Yes, anywhere you like. A link back is appreciated but not required.
Can I use the pages in class, a library or a care home?
Yes, as long as the pages stay free for the people coloring them. Please don't sell them or put them in a book or product for sale.
Can I color your pages in a video?
Yes, including monetized videos and livestreams. Please put a link to the page in the description.

Printing

Letter or A4?
Choose US Letter in the US and Canada, A4 almost everywhere else. Both PDFs have a 1/2 in (12.7 mm) margin, so print at Actual size (100%) rather than Fit to page.
What paper should I use?
Plain copy paper is fine for colored pencils. For alcohol markers, colorists recommend 65 lb cardstock (176 gsm) or heavier, printed on one side only, with a scrap sheet underneath to catch any bleed. Always check the gsm: "110 lb" can mean 199 gsm (index) or 298 gsm (cover).
Why do my markers smear the black lines?
Alcohol markers dissolve inkjet ink, so lines can drag into the color. Laser-printed lines don't smear. With an inkjet, let the page dry for a day, or color lightly over the lines.
How do I print from my phone?
Open the PDF button on the page, then use Share, Print in your phone's PDF viewer. Most home printers on the same Wi-Fi network show up there. Full steps are in the printing guide.

Coloring

What should I color them with?
Alcohol markers give the smooth, flat look the style is known for; a 48-color set is plenty for bold and easy pages. Colored pencils work on any paper, and a white gel pen adds highlights at the end.
Is my online coloring saved?
Yes, in your browser on the device you used. Come back to the same page and it is still there. Use Save picture to keep a copy.
Coloring or colouring?
Same thing: coloring is the US spelling, colouring the UK one. Our pages print on both US Letter and A4.
Can I ask for a theme?
Yes, please do: write to hello@cozycoloring.org. New pages arrive every week, following the seasons.
