On this page
A round bear toasts a marshmallow on a stick over a small campfire, with a tent, a lantern, two tall pines and a big round moon. The shapes are large and open, so beginners can relax into it.
Coloring ideas
Our example uses daylight pastels: Sage pines, a Butter moon, a Stone gray tent and a lot of Cream.
For a real night scene, fill the sky with navy or indigo, keep the moon pale yellow and let orange from the fire spill onto the bear's front.
Tips
Start with the glow: color a soft circle of pale yellow on the ground around the logs, then fade the ground color into it. A white gel pen dot on the lantern glass finishes it.
